WHAT IS IT?
This is a project where spectacles which are no longer required are collected and sent out to Third World countries and are used to enable the local people with sight problems to be able to see properly and continue supporting their families.
HOW DOES THE SCHEME WORK?
Used/discarded spectacles are sent to a collection point in the UK, where they are cleaned and then graded using a special machine, which is able to work out the lens prescription. This prescription information is printed and attached to the spectacles.
These are packed and sent on to another distribution centre and then on to the third world country where the person needing glasses is tested by a qualified ophthalmist and matched up with the correct pair of glasses.

WHAT HAVE I TO DO?
If you have any spectacles that you no longer need, you can take them to one of our collection points and put them into the designated box, which will have the Recycle For Sight logo, as seen below.
Members of our Club will check the boxes on a regular basis.
Spectacles that are collected will be then shipped on to our UK collection/sorting point.
The collection and shipping of discarded spectacles has now exceeded 20,000 Please keep them coming.
